Impossible Love

11 December 2011

I want to love.  But I find that when I want to love others selflessly it is impossible.  Yes, impossible!  I am naturally inclined to think of myself all day long, be concerned about my own interests and do things that benefit me.  How can I love my neighbor and count them better than myself?

All I can do is fall at the feet of Jesus and plead for His perfect love to be made manifest in my life.  For His Spirit to love through me.  God is love.  As I abide in God, His love abides in me, but apart from Him I can do nothing (1 John 4:12-13, John 15:5).

I have no love, but God is love.  My love is weak, but His love is strong.  My love fails, His love never fails.

I must not only know the love God has for me, but I must also rely on His Spirit that dwells in me and the love that Christ has first shown me (1 John 4:16).

Oh the love of Christ…

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” 2 Corithians 8:9
